hosts a safe schools week website with school
resources. Kentucky school students receive the
Kentucky Safe Schools Week Proclamation from
Governor Ernie Fletcher at the Kentucky Fair Grounds
as a kick-off event for this weeks activities
surrounding Safe Schools Week. Stand up and Sign Up
this years theme emphasizes action and commitment.
The goal is to continue to enhance the healthy, safe
climate of Kentucky schools which impacts student
success.
Kentucky’s Safe Schools Week, October 21-27, 2007,
is a time for students, parents, educators and
community members to come together and make school
safety something that involves action and a
commitment…because it does! The slogan for this
statewide campaign is Stand Up and Sign Up! Stand
up, be counted and take the online pledge.
Throughout this week students, educators and
community members will focus their attention on
school safety and empowering our youth to become
active members in the prevention of violence in
their schools. The third week in October offers a
special opportunity to educate the public about the
various safety initiatives schools implement to
encourage a safe and healthy learning environment
for both students and staff. Please join with us and
others throughout this great Commonwealth and
celebrate Safe Schools Week by coordinating events
at your school. |
