Welcome to the Kentucky Center for School Safety Website

Every morning as the big yellow bus rounds the corner, parents send their children off to school with the expectation that they will remain safe.  Across this great Commonwealth, we as educators never need to lose sight of that great responsibility.

Our schools focus on academic achievement, competing well in athletics and other important measurements of success, but none of that matters unless our students remain safe in a healthy environment that is conducive to learning.

The Kentucky Center for School Safety staff is committed to providing training, resources, information and research. In today's society, school safety is a daily issue that ranges from classroom management to school shootings. This website is available for planning, training or emergency assistance.

Fordsville Ele students put up positive posters.Students at Fordsville Elementary in Ohio County cover the walls with positive posters contributing to the warm culture throughout the school.

Kentucky Center for School Safety announces a state-wide training initiative addressing  School Related Emergency Management.   The revised Emergency Management Resource Guide features the "all hazards approach" emphasizing the four phases of emergency management, Mitigation/Prevention, Preparedness, Response, and Recovery. Enhancing functionality of the guide is the accompanying interactive CD, which allows for one click access to emergency procedures and school planning templates. Registration for the training is on-line.  Just select location, the dates are already set. See you there.
